Rustoleum Patio Refresh

DIY Patio Refresh – a Guest Post by Lovely Indeed

Hi all! Chelsea here from Lovely Indeed, bringing you some fun summertime inspiration for your patio space. I love the summer season! The relaxed days and evenings are a perfect time to have friends and family come together for some outdoor fun. Our patio was in serious need of a summer refresh, so we turned to RustOleum and Michaels to help us update some of our patio furniture with a little pop of color. It took no time at all, and now we’ve got a fresh look on our patio so we can entertain in style.

Rust-Oleum recently released a few new shades in their Universal Spray Paint line, which turned out to be perfect for our project! We chose Gloss Seaside, which is a vibrant blue that brings a beachy vibe to our space. Here’s how we updated our old black metal patio chairs in just a few minutes.

We started by giving them a thorough wipe down to clean off any dust and debris. Next we took them outdoors to a well-ventilated area, and spread out some scrap cardboard on the ground to catch any overspray. After that, it was as simple as point and spray!

Rust-Oleum’s Universal cans are particularly great because they have a comfort trigger so your hands don’t get fatigued from spraying. And with the paint and primer in one can, it covers beautifully. It only took one coat and a few touch ups to cover our black chairs. The cans also allow you to spray at any angle, which is crucial for a project like this one – I was able to tip the cans upside down to spray the underside of the chairs. It took just under one can of paint per chair, and just like that they’ve got a new life!

We allowed the paint to dry and cure for about 24 hours and then added them back onto our patio space. We also added a few special pieces from Michaels to spruce up the area and make it our own. The faux grasses, plants, and succulents are a great idea for a small outdoor space if you don’t have a green thumb.

Add a few flameless candles, some pretty containers, and a throw pillow to make it cozy and comfortable.

We’re loving the new pop of color the chairs bring to our patio! It’s such a simple, quick refresh but makes a major impact. Here’s to lots of time outside this summer!
