So Sweet: Sugarbelle’s Autumn Stamp Cookies

I don’t know about you, but I’m definitely ready for fall. I love cozy sweaters, warm drinks, and turning leaves…but more than anything, I love autumn baking. With the hustle and bustle of a new school year, plus three major holidays, it’s sometimes hard to find time for holiday baking projects. The Sweet Sugarbelle’s Cookie Stamp kit makes cookie decorating quicker and easier than ever!

Sugarbelle's Autumn Stamp Cookies

To make these cookies you will need:

Following the directions and recipe included in the cookie cutter stamp kit, prepare the sugar cookie dough. Feel free to use your own cut-out cookie recipe if you have one.

Once mixed, follow the instructions on the dough dye package to color the dough. I used orange with a little touch of yellow to brighten it up.

Maker Tip: If you are only using one color, add the dye while mixing to incorporate it into the dough.

Roll the dough out to approximately 1/4 inch thick on parchment paper or a lightly floured surface

Maker Tip: Use rolling pin rings, or 1/4 square dowel rods on either side of the dough to create perfectly even cookies.

Working one at a time, first cut and then stamp each cookie.

Sugarbelle's Autumn Stamp Cookies

Maker Tip: If the stamp sticks to the dough, lightly dip it in flour and tap off the excess before stamping.

Place on a cookie sheet and bake according the the recipe you used.

After baking, the impression from the stamps will still be visible.

Now it’s time to decorate! Prepare a small batch of royal icing (the recipe is included in the kit) and use the Wilton Color Right System, to create green and black icing. You won’t need a lot of icing, but the amount will vary depending on the number of cookies.

Sugarbelle's Autumn Stamp Cookies

Use water to thin the icing to flood consistency, which is about the consistency of honey or shampoo, and pour it into bottles.

Sugarbelle's Autumn Stamp Cookies

Maker Tip: Sometimes royal icing separates over time. The Sweet Sugarbelle Bottle Spatula is the perfect tool for stirring icing that has separated in the bottle.

Maker Tip: Use a small spray bottle to thin the icing to prevent adding too much water at once.

Use flood icing to fill the impressions left in the dough. If necessary, use the Sweet Sugarbelle 2 in 1 tool to move the icing into small spaces or to pop air bubbles that may appear as you work.

Sugarbelle's Autumn Stamp Cookies

Let the cookies dry for six to eight hours and they’re ready to share!

Sugarbelle Autumn Stamp Cookies

Since royal icing needs time to dry, it’s best to make the cookies a few days ahead of time. When they are dry, they can be stored in an airtight container between sheets of waxed paper for up to a week.

Decorated cookies are great for holiday parties, and you will be proud to say that you made them yourself.

Now that you have entered the world of cookie decorating, what do you want to MAKE next? With the Sweet Sugarbelle Stamp Cutter Kit the possibilities are endless! We love to seeing your DIY decorated cookie projects on Instagram so be sure to use hashtags #MakeItWithMichaels and #sweetsugarbelle so we can take a look!

How did you get started with baking?

My Grandmother was the person who originally introduced me to baking. I have such good memories of my family getting together for special occasions and baking together in the kitchen. All through high school and college I loved baking themed treats for my friends.

Why was Wilton the right fit?

I have used Wilton products for as long as I can remember and in the very first episode of Nerdy Nummies I am using Wilton icing. I am very picky about who I work with, which is why Wilton was the perfect company to partner with.

What was your favorite part about creating this product line?

Creating a product line was something completely new for me. I wanted to wait to do it until the time was right and I could do it right. The line itself took over a year to develop and I loved being very hands on during the process. Wilton really worked to make my vision for the line come to life and I’m excited to see people’s response to it!

Where do you find inspiration?

I get inspiration from everywhere. I have a very active mind that can be hard to turn off. Even when I’m in the shower I’ll be drawing ideas on the glass door. I have always loved being creative.

Do you have a favorite project? Why is it your favorite?

My new projects often become my favorites as I’m constantly learning something new, but if I had to pick a favorite it would be any video that I’ve had my Dad as a guest. I’m really close to my family and any chance I get to share my world with them is very special.

What’s your favorite part about meeting your fans?

I am convinced that I have the nicest and sweetest viewers in the world. Any time I release a product or go to a convention I try and work meetups into them. My supporters energize me and always put a smile on my face.

What can’t candy do when it comes to decorating? We sat down with Dylan Lauren, founder & CEO of Dylan’s Candy Bar, to find out all about the inspiration behind our new, exclusive bakeware collaboration together. Full of candy-a-tized essentials like whirly pop candles, sugary toppers, and candy shaped cookie cutters—the colorful line aims to help bakers everywhere cook up some truly bright ideas.

Why did you want to partner with Wilton?

I’ve always loved Wilton and discovering new, interesting treat ideas. I’m drawn to the idea of combining homemade creations and candy in unexpected ways. This line is a great nod to that. We’re even taking it a step further with items that also “look” like candy, like gumball machine shaped cake toppers. That’s really what makes it double the fun. Life is supposed to be full of sweet surprises.

How were you involved with the creation of the products?

I love being involved in every step from the initial concept to the actual creation of the product. The colors, the design, the final aesthetics—it’s all important to me. I love working with different members of the team and talking through interesting ideas. I like to listen to lots of opinions so we can create the best products possible.

Which product is your favorite?

It’s so hard to choose, but I absolutely love the Candy Apron Kitchen Set, the Sprinkles Tacklebox and the Cake Decorating Kits. They all feel very characteristic of our brand. We’re all about merging the worlds of art, fashion and pop culture with candy—I think these products do the trick. I also love the Sugar Sheets because you can apply our “candyspill” pattern right to a cupcake!

How do these products make it easier for people to express their creativity?

There are so many ways! We hope that the collection inspires bakers and candy lovers to have a ton of fun in the kitchen. Whether it’s decorating a box of cupcakes and adding some fun wrappers or making an entire cake, the beauty is that you can also share what you’ve made and inspire someone else. You can move your creativity forward!

What types of baking and decorating projects inspire you?

Right now, I love seeing the rainbow and color block trend all over social media. I can’t believe how inventive people are! It definitely gives me some great product ideas.

What’s your favorite dessert?

That’s always a tough one! In terms of candy, I love licorice and Swedish Fish. In the baked goods category, I was raised in New York City, so I think I’m going to have to go with a classic Black & White cookie. Plus, you don’t have to choose between chocolate and vanilla frosting.
