Trends & Tips to Planning a Summer Wedding Like a Pro – A Guest Post by David Tutera
Hi, I’m David Tutera and I’m thrilled to be sharing summer wedding trends and tips with you today. Planning a summer wedding allows you to celebrate your special day during one of the most beautiful times of year. Your wedding day is all about the celebration of your love and you want to make sure to tell that story by letting your personality shine through every little detail of your day.
If you join the many brides and grooms who take advantage of the weather and setting a summer wedding offers, then you want to be sure it goes off without a hitch and keep in mind some of the top tips and trends I’m sharing to plan your summer wedding like a pro.
The Perfect Accessories
Accessories are the essence of you and can bring out your personality and your overall wedding style through a variety of additions. Add some pizzazz to bridal fashion or bouquets with a beautiful bling brooch or make a statement with a stylish belt that gives your gown just the right amount of sparkle.
And the accessories don’t stop there. This summer, when it comes to hair, brides and bridal parties are opting for chic accents like floral hair combs or delicate gold leaf hair vines crawling along a low bun or a free flowing hairstyle to add the look of ethereal elegance.
Bouquets are one of the most important accessories that complete a wedding day look. Take advantage of adding a little personality to your bouquet with shiny accents or a bold pop by wrapping the stem with fabrics like my applique lace wrap with a pop of bling. Some brides even choose to nix flowers all together for a more unique approach with an all bling bouquet made of floral brooches and crystal picks!
‘Props’ to the Bride
Take advantage of special items that make for the perfect photo opp in the summer months–think outdoor photos of the couple surrounded by a botanical garden while holding a charming vintage parasol, or a picture perfect wedding gown hanging from a personalized “Bride” hanger on a sun-drenched day.
These small details make a meaningful impact and even more memorable photos for years to come.
Floral and Décor
With the summer months, comes very hot and humid temperatures in many regions, and the last thing you want to see are the flowers you spent so much money on wilt from the heat. Fear not! I am happy to share that there are so many stylish alternatives that can save your wallet and your worries!
When planning your floral scheme, not only should you look for blooms that can withstand the heat, but you should also consider mixing both real and faux flowers into bouquets and centerpieces, like the roses and peonies from my collection at Michaels. You’d be surprised at how real they look and the fact that they last far beyond the wedding day makes for a great memory for you and your guests.
Specifically trending this summer are greenery focused weddings with beautiful, organic elements and metallics making a bold statement alongside traditional floral. To achieve this look, add touches of faux greenery like succulents and metallic accents like gold eucalyptus leaves into bouquets and reception décor.
It’s only the smallest of details and personal touches like these that will give your wedding a great ‘wow’ factor for your dollar, while creating a bigger impact overall that you and your guests will appreciate and remember for years to come!
