A new year, a new you… right? January is always full of new goals, whether it be a diet, a workout regimen, plans for organization or learning a new hobby. It’s been a while since I tried something new, so in preparation for the new year I attended a Crochet Ice Cream Workshop put on by One Sheepish Girl, Meredith Crawford.
Fittingly, the workshop was held at a local ice cream shop, Melt Ice Creams. I just can’t quite think of anything better than crafting and ice cream. Am I right?
I got myself a scoop of Pear Chai ice cream and settled in to start learning!
To be honest, I was quite intimidated. Crocheting seemed like such a intimidating hobby to learn. There’s yarn and hooks and counting and your hands are doing two different things! But alas, it wasn’t long after we got started that I began to get the hang of things. We used the snow cone pattern from Meredith’s new book, Crochet with One Sheepish Girl, but adjusted the yarn colors to make an ice cream cone! The book was so helpful that even a complete beginner like me caught on.
Before I knew it, everyone’s crocheted ice cream cones started taking shape. I was amazed at what I was creating!
Now, it took me awhile to catch on, but practice makes perfect! I can’t decide what I will attempt next. Which one do you think I should try?
All of these projects (and more!) can be found in Meredith’s book Crochet with One Sheepish Girl. So what are you waiting for? Learn something new this year, it’s the cool thing to do.
