Cara

Cara

Born in the back of a custom frame shop, Cara has been crafting since she was knee-high to a June bug. Some would say she has glitter running through her veins! As a lefty, her world is full of opposites – and she likes it that way. She adds her unique spin to everything, from her obsession with rusty flea market finds, her need to get a Christmas ornament from every vacation spot and her cowboy boot collection; Cara sees the beautiful in the world and makes it shine even brighter. You can always find her with her better half, Gabe, and her two fur-children, Jake and Perseus.

Sherry

Sherry

A collector at heart, Sherry loves the thrill of the hunt and likes to scour antique shops and estate sales looking for bargains. Known to pick up furniture and household goods that her neighbors have discarded at the curb, Sherry feels that repurposing a vintage find is more rewarding than buying a new, mass-produced item. And though she has dabbled with jewelry making, cross stitch, needlepoint and other crafts, she doesn't have nearly enough time to make all the projects that inspire her, which is why she likes craft fairs.

Joanna

Joanna

Joanna would have written a bio, but she had a pressing engagement with a dental surgeon/international spy, so this space will be filled with office scuttlebutt: • Rumor has it that, for her art school thesis project, she produced a collection of tiny corsets, made from calico and cobweb silk, to be worn by anorexic hamsters. • It is alleged that she arm-wrestled Martha Stewart in a grease pit at a county fair, and lost. • Poorly-researched reports indicate that her children have been taught to play the hurdy-gurdy to a medley of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and “Love Will Keep Us Together.” • Unverified accounts state that she lost a small fortune investing in a concern that developed and marketed smartphones to the World Famous Lipizzaner Stallions. The final blow supposedly occurred when specially-developed hoofprint recognition software was revealed to be an abject failure. • Several slightly-disheveled witnesses state that she declines to write bios as a matter of principle, preferring instead to paint self-portraits with the cheesy sauce from macaroni & cheese. Two better-dressed witnesses dispute this account; they say it is butterscotch pudding. • The one known fact about this elusive individual is that she naps occasionally in the comfy nest of Loops & Threads yarn underneath her desk, crocheting single chains with her finger to lull herself to sleep.

Janelle

Janelle

Janelle thinks Audrey said it best with her “I believe in pink…” quote. Janelle is so dedicated to the color pink that she has a Recollections glitter color named after her. It is impossible for her to talk to (yes, to) or about her dog, Tallulah Rose, without smiling. Her Monday morning mood is often determined by how the Cowboys played on Sunday. Champagne is one of her favorite things because there is always something to celebrate. One of Janelle’s most endearing characteristics is her habit of naming inanimate objects. She enjoys painting and just about any project involving glitter; the more sparkle, the better! Janelle is her happiest when she’s with her friends. Whether she’s enjoying a live concert, hosting a scary movie night or playing a friendly game of tennis, this social butterfly loves to entertain and be entertained.

Jen

Jen

A writer by trade, Jen is a life-long crafter (or craftist, as she'd prefer). Her yarn collection is bigger than most people's libraries, and her library … well, that's for another time. If she's not wrapped in yarn, covered in bits of clay, or leaving paint fingerprints throughout the house, she's likely to be found enjoying a local film festival, watching football soccer, or trying to talk some sense into her crazy dogs, Lucy and Wilson. Her goal in life (other than to meet Billy Joel) is to have an organized craft room, but she can't stop picking up new hobbies long enough for that to happen.

Delphine

Delphine

Delphine is a goofy Belgian who absolutely loves to try new things. When she’s not blogging (or vlogging) about language learning and Japanese culture, she’s curled up on the couch with a sketchbook or making a mess in her apartment with a new set of paints. A big kid at heart, she loves to find fun in the little things and turn everything into a game - which is probably an indicator that she plays way too many video games in her free time. While she considers herself only a novice crafter, Delphine is constantly thinking about her next creative project and is always more than willing to pick up a new interest.

Nicky

Nicky

Nicky is a crazy quirky gal who can most frequently be found playing with her pet chinchilla, Cinnamon. He actually would have preferred to write this for her, but his paws are too small for the keyboard. If she isn’t attempting to dress him up in holiday costumes, as holidays are her favorite, she spends her time cooking new recipes (well I guess a more honest phrase would be EATING new recipes) and drinking Dr. Pepper. Seriously…she almost always has a can in hand.

Roma

Roma

A maker, an artist, a nature-lover & a thinker are just some of the words we would use to describe Roma. As one of the Designers here at Michaels, she takes great pride in the handiwork and traditions taught to her by her mother and grandmother, so much so that she is passing those skills to her kids. Her heart and soul thrive in her family & her creativity. She believes nature is the foundation to all inspiration and presentation is key to any great D.I.Y project. Mix those together and you have the perfect combination to describe Roma’s aesthetic – brilliantly architected with a hint of Mother Nature’s beauty. You can find her in the kitchen creating decadent meals (with recipes found on a 1960’s edition of the Betty Crocker Cookbook, because she feels people ate better and lived better during those years), outdoors transforming boring lawns into gardens fit for the most stately of manors, arranging flowers into bouquets of color, designing one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces, and photographing every moment to capture it all! Discover the world through Roma’s eyes with her posts here at the Glue String.
